First Team-based Care Models in BC Shows Diverse Representation
Overview:
Long-standing team-based care model where health professionals work together along with community representatives.
We have a primary health centre that we fought for years ago and we’re actually one of the first places in BC that had that where a team of health professionals worked together so we’ve had that long standing. Our Health Select Committee I think is a unique community health initiative that we try to work together to advocate for our services that we need for the community. There are representatives from various agencies, the Mayors, the Chair, and there’s one Council member. There’s our community services agency is represented. The Hospice Society is represented, the regional district is represented. Some health practitioners sit on the committee. Paramedics and First Responders. That’s kind of a cross section of people providing healthcare services in the community.
