Northern Medical Program Travelling Road Show for Students
Overview:
The University of Northern BC and the Northern Medical Program facilitates a travelling road show to expose urban students to the northern-rural environment.
This is something they’ve [UNBC and the Northern Medical Program] done in the past and they’re continuing to do – they do a traveling road show. What they do is they actually bring people that are training in the south, bring them up and show them what there is [in the north] because half the time the people in the south have never gone outside [of] the Lower Mainland. They get up here and they see what’s going on up here, they go ‘Holy crap, this is great. I could live like a king and get everything I want in services, the health, everything’s up here. This is where I want to be.’ They bring them to the schools and we try to encourage more kids from other schools to go out and see that and it’s been just great.
