The Rural Coordination Centre of BC (RCCbc) supports and develops provincial initiatives by engaging and coordinating with rural healthcare providers to facilitate the development of local and/or regional solutions, frameworks, and networks. Though RCCbc is rural-focused, the organization sees the value in expanding and/or scaling up rural solutions to benefit other BC health professionals facing similar challenges.
Joint Standing Committee on Rural Issues (JSC)
The Joint Standing Committee on Rural Issues (JSC) enhances the availability and stability of services provided by physicians in rural and remote areas of British Columbia by addressing some of the uniquely demanding and difficult circumstances attendant upon the provision of those services by physicians.
Locums for Rural BC administers the Rural Locum Programs on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Doctors of BC. Locums for Rural BC administers the Rural GP Locum Program (RGPLP), the Rural GP Anesthesia Locum Program (RGPALP), and the Rural Specialist Locum Program (RSLP).
The RCPD Program offers rurally-specific continuing professional development (CPD, formerly called “CME”) programs that are community-based, interprofessional, engaging, interactive, and practical. In addition to multi-modal learning opportunities, RCPD conducts a variety of research and evaluation activities related to the provision of medicine in rural BC.
