Multiple initiatives offer solutions to children in need of mental health support.
Innovations: Mental Health
Innovations that relate to and/or address mental health challenges in a community
Members of local hospital, physicians and schools meet monthly to combat mental health concerns in children and youth.
Mental health referrals go to a community mental health socialization program called the Source Clube to gain work skills, access hot meals and other activities.
It is rare for a community to say that they have fantastic mental health supports, but one community reports that they have many stepping stones in place, and that they utilize Telehealth in their efforts to battle mental health and it is proving to work well for them.
Community works together to fill gap in mental health care resources and address youth mental health and suicide through prevention, education and including a trauma informed lens.
A First Nations community has an Equine (horse) Therapy Program for mental health and engaging youth.
Interior Health contracts volunteer driver program, a counsellor that works solely on chronic mental health and a psychiatrist once a month.
